2021 Colors of the Year

Color has more of an impact on our lives than ever, simply because we're spending so much time at home. And after the year that was 2020, it’s no surprise that colors reflecting calm, security, optimism and hope are trending for 2021.
The Pantone® choices of Ultimate Gray and Illuminating—two independent colors—marry the sentiments of dependability and warmth. The color of natural elements, like pebbles, that stand the test of time, Ultimate Gray evokes steadiness and resilience. A cheerful yellow, Illuminating sends the uplifting message that brighter days are ahead.
Another nature-inspired hue, Urbane Bronze, is the Sherwin Williams® pick for 2021. Its warmth helps ground a room, creating a sense of calm and relaxation.
Similarly, Aegean Teal, the choice from Benjamin Moore®, is a soothing combination of blue-green and gray that emanates the comfort of home. A slight shift from Aegean Teal, pale turquois Misty Aqua is one of three optimistic colors from PPG selections. Oatmeal-colored Transcend and ginger-shaded Big Cypress round out the trio.
And with 21 colors in its 2021 Color Trends Palette, Behr® gives a nod to comfort, calm and positivity in its selection of curated hues—warm shades such as Sierra, soothing blues such as Voyage, and optimism with bold earth tones, including Saffron Strands.
Refreshing a Room

Now that the "in" colors have been revealed, why not have some fun (and revitalize your spirit) with a room do-over? After all, a fresh coat of paint combined with new window treatments is an easy way to refresh a room.
Up first: choose a paint color. Once you've made your selection, you’ll need to decide whether you want your window treatments to match, be neutral or contrast with your walls.
Matching colors blend in, creating a seamless feeling in a space, while contrasting colors highlight window treatments. Neutral colors give you the most versatility, so you can repaint your wall color in the future without having to change your window treatments.
Make sure to take a paint sample with you to your Hunter Douglas window-treatment specialist, so your specialist can use it to help you find a complementary window-treatment fabric.
